Peak and off-peak fares
Peak
From 2am to 9am and 3.30pm to 7pm weekdays, except public holidays.
Off-peak
From 9am to 3.30pm and after 7pm weekdays until 2am the following day and all day weekends and gazetted public holidays. Last trip must be commenced before off-peak ends.
What if my journey starts in off-peak and finishes in peak (or vice versa)?
It's based on when you start each trip.
- go card: the time you touch on.
- Paper ticket: the time you buy your ticket or show your ticket at the start of a trip.
If you make a multi-trip journey across peak and off-peak times (that is, you are transferring between services):
- go card: your fare will be automatically calculated for you as a mixture of peak and off-peak.
- Paper ticket: you can't use an off-peak paper ticket for any trips that start during peak times. You may need a different ticket for your peak trip or for your whole journey.
