The Queensland Government, through the TransLink Transit Authority, is making public transport easier and safer to catch with planning underway for new park 'n' ride facilities along the Mt Lindesay Highway. The new park 'n' ride facilities will allow people to park their car and then transfer to a nearby bus to complete their journey.

Park Ridge park 'n' ride – near Park Ridge Road

In consultation with key stakeholders, TransLink developed a draft design for a new park 'n' ride on the Mt Lindesay Highway near Park Ridge Road, Park Ridge. TransLink sought community input on the draft design in August/September 2007.

Valuable feedback was received via property owner meetings, community displays at local shopping centres, emails and the free-call feedback hotline.

The draft design, shown in the newsletter, has progressed to detailed design drawings in preparation for delivery. The park 'n' ride will be delivered as part of the works for the Mt Lindesay Highway upgrade in this area.

Delivering the park 'n' ride with the highway upgrade offers construction savings for the government and limits the impacts of multiple construction sites for the community.

It is anticipated that the construction of the park 'n' ride will commence in late 2009, in alignment with the Mt Lindesay Highway upgrade.

TransLink is investigating further park 'n' ride facilities for the area that will align with future demand and TransLink's network strategy for the corridor.

We will keep you informed as planning progresses.
