 Traffic updates
To assist with construction of the Northern Busway (Royal Children’s Hospital to Windsor) bus lanes have been closed, bus stops relocated and changed traffic and pedestrian conditions have been installed along the roads surrounding the Royal Brisbane Hospital precinct.

Traffic control will be in place to ensure works are completed in the safest and quickest possible manner. Every effort will be made to minimise impacts, your patience during these essential works is appreciated.
Bowen Bridge Road changed traffic conditions
July to December 2008
Traffic changes may occur along Bowen Bridge Road, from Gregory Terrace to Butterfield Street, on various nights from 8pm to 5am until the end of December 2008. These changes may require lane closures and traffic control will be in place to ensure safe travel through the area.
The westbound lane and footpath on the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) side of Butterfield Street has also been modified. Vehicle and pedestrian access to the hospital will be maintained. Pedestrians in this area are encouraged to use the footpath and pedestrian crossings available. Changes are to remain in place until November 2008.
March 2008 to mid 2009
From April 2008, traffic and pedestrian conditions have changed on Bowen Bridge Road between Gregory Terrace and Campbell Street. These changes are expected be in place until mid 2009.
The following changed traffic conditions may cause delays on Bowen Bridge Road:
- the inbound and outbound bus lanes will be closed between Gregory Terrace and Campbell Street
- the two inbound and two outbound lanes will remain open to general traffic and be moved to the east side of the roadway
- bus services will continue as normal.
Inner City Bypass partial road closure (inbound and outbound) - effective July to December 2008
Piling and bridge construction works will occur adjacent to the Inner City Bypass (ICB) and QR lines along Bowen Bridge Road.
These works may require a single inbound lane closure of the ICB at various times and some night works. During weekdays these lane closures will be restricted to between 8.30am and 3.30pm and will continue throughout the coming months.
Night time works for Victoria Park and Butterfield Street
Night time deliveries of heavy material to Victoria Park and Butterfield Street are continuing. Minor traffic changes are expected during these deliveries.
Footpath closure on Bowen Bridge Road - effective until late 2009
The footpath along the RBWH side of Bowen Bridge Road, between Heston Road and Butterfield Street has changed. The footpath along this section of the road is completely closed to pedestrians and cyclists.
Signage is in place to direct pedestrians and cyclists to an alternative route, via the footpath on the Royal National Association (RNA) Show Grounds side of Bowen Bridge Road. Access to the RBWH will remain open. These detours will be in place until mid 2009.
Footpath changes for Butterfield Street, Herston - effective until November 2008.
