journeys involving non-TransLink services

In the 'select' field, choose 'all available services' in the drop down menu. For example, use this field when searching for journey options between Surfers Paradise in Queensland (part of the TransLink network) and Tweed Heads in New South Wales (not part of the TransLink network).

General hints

  1. If you are unsure which suburb the street you require is in, leave the suburb field empty, then choose the required suburb from the Location Verification screen.
  2. If you are trying to find street names that start with The, enter the name as follows, The Crescent, The Boulevard, The Esplanade, and so on, plus the suburb name (if known).
  3. There are thousands of landmarks entered into the system. These include many shopping centres, schools, churches and all train stations. Enter these in the suburb field for a quick match.
  4. When you are searching for a landmark such as Southbank or St Lucia and your enquiry does not come up the first time try splitting the word, for example South Bank or entering the full name, for example Saint Lucia. Also try partial names and select the required one for example, Queensland Uni, University of Queensland, University of QLD.
  5. If the time of the trip you are requesting does not come up try a quarter or half hour earlier or later.
  6. To find NightLink services, select a time late in the evening for either Friday or Saturday night (eg Leave after 11.50pm Friday). Please note, if you select a time early on the following morning, NightLink services will not be displayed.

New trip

The from and to fields may be used in several ways:

  1. Enter the street number and name (for example 6 Smith St) plus the Suburb name in the Suburb field (if known);
  2. If you wish to choose a road / street INTERSECTION as either your origin or destination, type in the two streets, separated by &&. For example George St && Adelaide St. (This is helpful if you are not sure of the suburb, which can be left blank).
  3. Enter a Landmark or Station name in the Suburb field, for example The Gabba, Toombul Shopping Town or Enoggera Railway Station. (This is helpful if you don't know the address of the origin or destination or for example, for a very new street);
  4. Enter a suburb name only (this is not as precise as options (a) to (c) above).
  5. Don't include unit numbers such as 3/16 Juniper St. Just use 16 Juniper St.
  6. The Journey Planner will normally search for a route that uses any service, but if you prefer, you can choose to travel only by bus, train or ferry.
  7. If you know your earliest departure time, choose leave after and enter the departure time.
  8. If you know your latest arrival time, choose arrive by and enter an arrival time. The selected journeys will arrive no later than that time.
  9. Choosing earliest will find the first journey of the day.
  10. Choosing latest will find the last journey of the day.

Location verification

  1. The confirmation boxes show the various options for your journey. Scroll up and down to find the best selection.
  2. Bus stops, ferry pontoons and train stations are called (Location).
  3. Landmarks are followed by (Landmark). Whole suburbs are followed by (Suburb).
  4. It doesn't make a difference which type you select except that a bus stop (Stop is a stop on a route, Landmark is global and will select all services in that location area) is usually a little more accurate than say selecting Carindale Westfield, which obviously covers many streets and possible entrances.
  5. If you get a trip result that is getting you off at the wrong place then try selecting the actual stop with a street address. This may make a difference between one side of a Westfield and the other.

Results

  1. The results page shows you the various trip options that have been selected by the system.
  2. The system always selects the trip that will depart or arrive from or at your selected destination at the earliest time after the time you have selected.
  3. Scroll down to look at the various options offered to choose your preferred trip.
  4. You can restrict your transport options by selecting the Bus only or Train only options on the Journey Planner page.
  5. If you are experiencing problems printing any TransInfo pages change your print options from portrait to landscape.

Please note: Bus and train combinations, for example Trainlink services, will be eliminated if train is chosen.
