After downloading the Translink app, you'll be shown a quick tutorial of the main features. You can find the tutorial again later in the More tab (More > Tutorial).
The Translink app requires consent to send notifications and to access your device location.
If you allow the app to access your location, you'll be able to plan journeys using your current location and see stops nearby. You can allow this access from the More tab (More > Settings > Edit permissions)
Explore (home)
The Explore screen displays the key features in one place for easy access.
Plan a journey, see upcoming Departures at nearby stops, and access the Map from the Explore tab.
Journey planning
The journey planner can be accessed from the Explore tab.
Tap on the Start or Destination fields to open a search and type a location.
Once you've entered a Start point and Destination, you can tap the + icon to add another stop to your journey.
Customise your journey results by choosing the travel mode that suits you, the number of transfers, and whether you'd like to avoid long walks.
See a quick summary of the journey options including the duration and any disruption information.
Share your journey with someone else or add it to your calendar from the journey details screen.
Service disruptions
Service disruptions are displayed in the app as messages.
Tap on a message for more information.
Service notices are not sent as push notifications. To get alerts about delays and disruptions for a specific journey, you can save a trip using the My Trips feature.
Departures
You can see a preview of upcoming Departures from nearby stops on the Explore screen.
Find Departures from other stops by tapping the 'Show stations' button and search for any stop.
You can choose to see results by stops you've recently viewed or by stops near your current location.
To add a stop to your favourites, simply tap the star icon and the stop will be saved for next time.
The Arrivals tab shows you services that are drop-off only.
Use the filter icon in the top right of a stop screen to change the departing time format and how the services are ordered in the list.
Map
You can search the map to see stops and places nearby.
Tap the buttons under the search field to filter results by different modes of transport or points of interest.
The live map shows trips in progress so you can follow your journey in real-time.
Real-time
Real-time is displayed in the app as +/- minutes next to the scheduled time.
Red indicates that a service isn't running to schedule. This could mean it's either early or late.
If you see +0, it means the service is running on time.
My Trips
Save one trip, recurring trips, or a window of time to see journey options for your regular commute.
Define your preferences for notifications.
Live navigation
Get step-by-step journey guidance with live navigation.
Live navigation update notifications will be pushed even when the app is the background.
More
Use the More tab to personalise your settings and access permissions, privacy and terms and conditions.
There is a quick link to the Translink website route timetables.
You can also access a link to manage your go card account.
